MicroScope™ for GE Security's Picture Perfect™

Mscope

MicroScope is a 100% web-based application that allows enterprise-level site administrators and technicians to manage large numbers of microcontrollers and monitor the state of doors and alarm points attached to GE Security's Picture Perfect™. One end-user remarked that MicroScope is the "Swiss Army knife" for Picture Perfect.

The world's premier Picture Perfect deployments use MicroScope because it removes the effort of manipulating large numbers of controllers and alarm devices. MicroScope provides an enterprise-wide view of the intrusion detection system that no other application can offer.

Large system users are always looking for ways to reduce the costs of managing multiple Picture Perfect systems. Consolidation has always been a labor intensive job reserved for only the bravest. The host-to-host Micro Copy tool available in MicroScope Enterprise Edition makes server consolidation and load balancing a simple task by enabling administrators to copy micros and their associated database records from one Picture Perfect host to another with a just a few simple mouse clicks. With this tool, dozens of micros involving thousands of records from the tables shown below are replicated on the target system in just seconds (network permitting)!

Be savvy. Save tens of thousands of dollars per year by consolidating your Picture Servers.

Plus, when you copy a micro to another system, you do not affect the database on your local system nor do you affect any existing records on the target system. The tool simply finds all of the database records associated with a given micro and inserts a copy of each into the target database. After you or your technicians verify that the micro is functioning properly, you can then use the MicroScope Purge Tool to completely remove the micro and its components from the original system.

Using the Badge Copy function, you can seamlessly merge a host's badge database with an existing database. Badge Copy will even merge individual badgeholders' categories, assigning available slots as necessary while allowing you to control the entire operation.

Need to delete a micro? Items to be purgedMicroScope enables administrators to delete micros, perform mass description changes on all points associated with a reader, or simply rename a group of devices to "SPARE". These operations are performed with a single query, saving hours of work looking up all of the related records in separate GUI applications. Available in all releases.

Be efficient. Device description inconsistencies cost you precious time while you search for database records by description.

Even with Picture Perfect 3.0, the task of changing or relocating devices can be cumbersome and error-prone. MicroScope's Description tool enables you to move a reader and its associated devices in seconds. Just find the reader that you need to move and type in its new description. Let MicroScope find every device associated with that reader and present you with a list of proposed changes. You get the final say-so! Override changes on any device, or accept them all. It's totally up to you. This feature is available in all releases.

Be certain. Get up-to-the minute reports of all door and alarm points in your enterprise from anywhere in the world.

MicroScope enables the user to quickly and easily pinpoint problems, displaying alarm points in off-line, trouble or tamper state in red, while points that are in on-line and normal condition display in green. Checkbox filters allow the user to display only those points that are in alarm or trouble state while text-based filters allow the user to search for pattern matches. As with all Codebench products, text searches are case-insensitive.

Monitoring can be performed on demand or can be scheduled daily to ensure that the status of all points has been queried at least once per day. The Informix database is used to manage last-known information on every alarm point. On screen reports provide accurate and concise information on a site-wide or regional basis. With MicroScope, off-line, alarm, and trouble conditions can all be displayed on a single screen.

With one mouse-click, device and alarm point status reports can be exported to an Excel spreadsheet and e-mailed to the responsible support group.

MicroScope provides a window into the current database configuration as a cross-reference, enabling users to verify that an alarm point is indeed configured "off-line". Hyperlinks to the alarm point's schedule events provide a quick way to check scheduling problems that may cause spurious off-line indications. Configuration reports can also be exported to an Excel spreadsheet and e-mailed.

Install the software on your Picture Perfect host and MicroScope immediately becomes available to any PC that has network access (including VPN). There is no restriction on the number of concurrent users or terminals running it.
