TempIssue® for GE Security's Picture Perfect™
Based on an original concept developed for IBM®, Codebench TempIssue® is the only 100% web-based, fully integrated visitor and temporary badging solution for GE Security's Picture Perfect™. A low-cost alternative to recurring licensing fees, TempIssue can be deployed anywhere that a network connection is available and does not require Picture Perfect terminal licenses on the workstations that run it.

Permanent badge records can be retrieved in a variety of ways, including wild card and case-insensitive queries. Plus, when a permanent badge is retrieved on systems configured with the Photo-Import option package, a photo of the person associated with the permanent badge record is displayed. Operators can quickly and easily verify the identity of the cardholder requesting a temporary badge.
The TempIssue software includes a proximity reader that plugs into the USB port of the receptionist's PC*. By presenting the temporary badge on the proximity reader (or by swiping a Wiegand card through a GE Interlogix wedge reader) and selecting the activation duration, the system automatically transfers the cardholder's information between the permanent record and the temporary badge record. There is no need to look up the badgeholder's access levels or for the operator to key in any access information. When a new temporary badge is activated, the permanent badge is automatically disabled.
TempIssue software includes on-screen reports that quickly identify the number and identity of active temporary badges, either current or within a certain timeframe. Context-sensitive help windows explain exactly how to use each function for each circumstance that arises.
Since TempIssue is highly configurable, operators can select the duration for which the temporary badge will be functional and for which the permanent badge will be disabled. When that duration has expired, the temporary badge will automatically be disabled and, optionally, the permanent badge can be reactivated.
TempIssue ensures that cardholders only have one active temporary badge at any given time. Operators can manually deactivate a temporary badge at any time.
Other configuration options allow you to:
- Choose which fields the operator uses to search for permanent cardholders
- Filter unwanted characters generated by wedge readers
- Choose which fields display on the permanent or temporary card verification form
- Create the drop-down badge activation duration list
- Protect fields on the temporary badge record (such as hot-stamp) from being overwritten with permanent badge information
TempIssue is password protected and uses the standard Picture Perfect permissions scheme for operators and system administrators, so there is no need to create and maintain a separate set of permissions for this application. A timing mechanism disables the application if it is left idle for more than 10 minutes.
Combined with user-created macros, TempIssue's rules engine allows site administrators to configure the software to do do all sorts of things when certain badge events occur. For instance, the system can automatically place site-specific tracking information into a permanent record’s user field so that managers can record the date and time that an employee's permanent badge was suspended and/or reactivated.

TempIssue´s Visitor Option is Picture Perfect´s only visitor solution that allows you to issue technology badges to visitors. This is an ideal application for quickly providing students or contractors with access to common areas for limited durations. Since TempIssue´s Visitor Option is fully integrated with Picture Perfect´s badge database, you have full control over your visitors´ access just like your regular cardholders.
When issuing visitor badges, receptionists can add visitor information "on the fly" and assign categories as necessary. Or, you can set up category templates which are automatically added to visitor badges when they are issued. Utilizing TempIssue´s photo capture option, receptionists can easily capture visitors´ photos using low-cost web cameras.
TempIssue´s Visitor Solution comes with 5 standard printing templates and supports the ability to print corporate logos on visitor badges.
Install the software on your Picture Perfect host and TempIssue immediately becomes available to any PC that has network access (including VPN). There is no restriction on the number of concurrent users or terminals running it.
TempIssue is 100% web-based and works with Picture Perfect releases 1.5.2 and above. It is available on Linux, AIX, and Unixware. Browsers supported include IE, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla. TempIssue is delivered in RPM (Red Hat Package Manager) for Linux and AIX 5L hosts, and SHX (Shell Executable) for AIX 4.x and Unixware platforms.
